Digital-Lifestyles pre-empted and reported thousands of articles on the then-coming impact that technology was to have on all forms of Media. Launched in 2001 as a research blog to aid its founder, Simon Perry, present at IBC 2002, it grew into a wide ranging, multi-author publication that was quoted in many publications globally including the BBC, was described by the Guardian as 'Informative' and also cited in a myriad of tech publications before closing in 2009

  • New PSP Shown at E3

New PSP Shown at E3Sony made a big song and dance at E3 yesterday in showing the new version of the PSP.

Much press reaction is pretty unimpressed – which seems to be a increasingly reaction to Sony news these days. A shame for a company that five years plus ago could do no wrong.

The changes for the new PSP centre around the reduction in size and weight – and video output.

  • The F Word: Monetising Filesharing: Reviewed

Last week, MusicTank held a panel discussion “The F Word: Monetising Filesharing”.

For once the panel (detailed below) had more members from the Internet side of things than the music industry, though Playlouder sit somewhere in between.

About a year ago a cross music industry grouping announced a new process called “Value Chain Proposition” whereby rather that sue end-users, they wanted ISPs to pay a license fee as they allowed users to file-share and that “added value” to their service and that added value had a monetary value that the music
industry should have a part of.

  • UK Information Commissioner Calls For Great Powers

UK Information Commissioner Calls For Great PowersThe security of information is always something that the government and financial institution are banging on about – pushing the responsibility of this on to the individual.

Personal responsibility for your own data should be part of your every day, but it sticks in the throat when the big companies that are lecturing about personal data security then go and treat the data under their control with gay abandon.

  • Pacemaker: Pocket iPod DJ Booth

Pacemaker: Pocket iPod DJ BoothWe’ve just found out about an amazing gadget – a handheld DJ mixer called Pacemaker by a new Swedish company called Tonium.

As soon as we heard about it, we were straight on the phone, as we’d been knocking around similar ideas at the Digital-Lifestyles offices.

Think of it as an iPod, with a built-in DJ mixing booth – and effects box attached.

It’s miles ahead of the clumsy iPod mixing which has been around since 2003 and, by the look of it, it will also fit into your pocket, being it’s 164mm/70mm/23mm (think PSP-sized) and 200g.
