Just over two years ago we covered the launch of FiOS TV, an IPTV service by US operator Verizon, that operates over fibre optic connections.
HD VOD – High Definition Video On Demand – has now being rolled out to a number of the regions covered by the FiOS TV service – Richmond and Virginia Beach, Va.; Tampa, Fla.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Pittsburgh.

Do you remember back in the early Web days when everyone wanted to start their own search engine? You couldn’t move for people starting search engines, then Google hit and everyone – bar Microsoft, their huge cash pile and their Live search – backed away.
FranceTelecom have now launched their search engine, Le Moteur – The Engine, to any non-linguists.

UK Broadcaster, Channel 4, have announced that they’re starting a “TV Clips” broadband channel which will feature clips from current TV programmes, an archive of the best moments from Channel 4’s 25 years of broadcasting, and a preview of new programming coming to Channel 4.

Ofcom has been consistently moving to reduce the amount of time that it takes to change mobile numbers from one to another – or port them as it’s know in the telecoms trade.
Their latest direction to the industry is that as of 1 September 2009, they’ll need to drop the amount of times to a mere two hours.

As you know, we – and a lot of other people – aren’t impressed with Skype’s plans to cut off many of their 0207 London SkypeIn customers.
We’ve been following this story up through various avenues, one being the company that provided the 0207 number to Skype in the first place.
We had an interview with Don McQueen, CEO of GCI Com who provided the 0207 numbers to Skype when they started the service 2-3 years ago.

The UK football club that is being bought by Web site, MyFootballClub has been announced today.
MyFootballClub (MyFC) is a revolutionary Web-based idea that will see the decisions of the management of the club – transfers, player selection and all major decisions – carried out by the paid-up members of the site – perhaps one of the only true forms of democracy still left. Thinks of it as fantasy football, but with a real team.

There’s a couple of changes going on at YouTube that are worth highlighting – mainly because they look like they’re a big improvement, particularly for those who upload many videos at once.
Once a app has been downloaded, YouTube-ers will be able to batch upload videos, rather than having to do them one after the other.

It appears that Hushmail isn’t quite as secure as it was initially thought to be.
Up to this point, it was thought that Hushmail was completely secure as messages were stored encrypted. Indeed Hushmail used to boast that not even their engineers would be able to read messages of users.
