LG have announced the imminent launch of their stylish, slimline slider phone, the LG-KF510.
Kitted out in a “Stardust Dark Gray” or “Sunset Red” finish, the LG-KF510 has the waistline of a supermodel at just 10.9mm thick. Those fearing a few beers/back pocket/sit down/doh! phone borked scenario should find some comfort in LG’s claims that it’s a tough little bleeder, with the handset strengthened by a metal frame and the display being made from tempered glass.
Virgin are always rather good at separate you from your money – usually more money than you thought you wanted to spend – like the ‘opportunity’ of buying a place on the seats by the emergency exists on a plane, you know the ones that use to be free.
Well now they’ve come up with a way of getting Virgin Mobile PAYG customers to use their mobile phones on a daily basis, thus slowly using up their credit. They call it Daily Bonus

We managed to get past our normal near-pathological dislike for Windows Mobile handsets when were reviewed the Palm 500 a while ago.
Considerably assisted by Vodafone’s slick custom interface and the impressive location based services, our stone cold hearts warmed to the Palm, despite the lack of a touch screen and, well, a Palm OS inside. After a week with the phone, we concluded that it was one of the best low/mid end Windows smartphones available.

Details are very sketchy beyond it’s called the Liscio and is being aimed at those who want to ‘stand out from the crowd.’

Everyone’s had that heart stopping moment when their mobile phone falls from they hands and tumbles towards the ground – there’s a frantic reaction as you attempt to grab for it with flailing arms, often resorting to placing your foot in the way to try and brake the fall.
With a newly-announced phone, the Sonim XP1, this will no longer be a problem, in fact, it looks like you can be pretty rough with it and it’ll still work.

We covered Apple surprisingly announcing the new 8-core Mac Pro launched at CES … in advance of MacExpo, their usual launch-fest.
Apple never announces anything in advance, but there are many rumours circulating on the various Mac user sites which we’re brought together for you.
Ultra-portable
Most people probably won’t remember Apple’s foray into the PDA market with the Newton. It flopped, though it was incredibly advanced for the time. It’s now time for an ultra-portable to come back on to the scene.
It’s likely to be a MacBookPro type device with a touch-screen/ stylus. There may only be solid state memory, so it starts quickly.

Seen lurking behind Bill Gates head in his presentation at CES 2008 was a photo of a new high-end Windows Mobile Palm phone, rumoured to be the replacement to the well-received Treo 750w.
According to Vodafone UK documents leaked on the web, the new Treo 800w (850w?) phone regales under the codename of the ‘Palm Drucker’, and packs a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE with a tri-band 3G/3.6 UMTS/HSDPA radio, running Windows Mobile 6.1.

Microsoft is currently developing a revolutionary change to its Windows Mobile 7 mobile device operating system, with an interesting touch and motion interface, according to an insider blog.
The UK National Mobile Phone Crime Unit carried out a number of raids around London last month – under the grandly titled, Operation Prestige – seizing 324 stolen mobile phones and carried out 56 arrests.
The actions were take in Lambeth, Lewisham, Croydon, Brent, Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Camden. The police believed that many of the handsets were stolen by street gangs and pickpockets.

A Vodafone customer in Darlington got the shock of his life before new year, when he learned from Vodafone that he’d racked up a huge mobile data bill.
A ‘friend’ of his had told him that he could wire his mobile phone to his laptop to use it as modem. After signing up for a £41.50/month deal, Ian Simpson from Darlington, thought he could use it without limit.
