The casual game industry is hauling in $2.25 billion a year and expanding by 20 per cent annually, according to the 2007 market report released by the Casual Games Association (CGA).
The study claims to “shatter” the industry belief that such games appeal mainly to women, but we’re such N00bs we didn’t even know what a casual game was.
Did you have any idea that 1 in 4 of all Skype calls are video chats? We were stunned that it was so high, we hear that it’s shifted from 1:5 over this summer.
As families spread further around the world, ‘connecting’ to them become even more important – and using high quality video gives the ability to melt those thousands of miles to a matter of inches, as you feel more like that they are just the other side of the screen.

Skype HQ (High Quality) Video officially launches today following its beta release earlier in this month.
It’s a significant increase in the quality of video that Skype can handle.
There are a number of interviews that we’ve done that have never been aired, for no particular reason. So we thought we’d give you the benefit of them.
Todays is with Sarah Gavin, Communications Director with Bebo, the hugely popular Networking site, which at the time of the recording – December 2006 – was top of the searches at Google. Back then they were doing over 5 billion page impressions a month.

The latest version of Skype, currently in Windows beta, 3.6, has High Quality Video.
It makes sense that as capabilities of equipment and bandwidth improve, so should quality.
Don’t get too excited yet, because currently it only works with two of Logitech’s High Quality Video webcams – the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks and Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (See below to purchase from Amazon).

Those who have Nokia Nseries and Eseries phones will be able to buy software, SlingPlayer, to play the video content from their homes to the handsets, wherever they are, from their Sling Boxes.
Quick resume on Sling Box: plug one into your TV at home and any programmes that you can watch can be viewed remotely, either on a computer, or portable device. Not only can you change channels remotely, but control the DVR functions.

We indulged ourselves in a feast of nostalgia this weekend when we chanced across this incredible ten minute animation on YouTube: 100 Amiga games in 10 minutes!
Hurtling through no less than one hundred quickfire slices of juicy action from the Commodore Amiga back catalogue, we were instantly transported back to our grubby 1990s bedsit: curtains closed, Amiga on and basking in the glow of our cream and grey multisync 14″ monitor.

The outrageously popular social networking website Facebook looks to be attracting the ever-bulging wallet of Microsoft, with the company rumoured to be about to buy a 5% stake, valuing the site at an eye watering $10bn (£5bn).
