Project Kangaroo, which was to offer video from a number of UK broadcasters, delivered over the Internet, has been blocked by the UK Competition Commission (CC).
Kangaroo was a joint venture with the BBC through BBC Worldwide, ITV plc and Channel Four Television Corporation.

US sales notch up $750 million

The overview? Sky will carry some of Virgin’s channels on their service and Virgin will carry some of Sky’s channels – both agreements last until 2011. They’ll both drop the outstanding High Court actions against each other.

UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom has given the big thumbs up for the creation of three spanking new high definition (HD) channels on Freeview from Autumn 2009.
Expected to start rolling out from the Granada region first, Channel 4, Taff-tastic Welsh-language broadcasters S4C, plus the gang of Channel 3 licensees (ITV PLC, Channel TV, STV and UTV) will be able to join HD pioneers BBC and start serving up new HD services on digital terrestrial television (DTT).
Mobile operator titans Vodafone are letting rip with a literary blast blasting the book world with their new service bringing books to mobile handsets.
The service will offer books to perambulating punters at a cost of a fiver to a hefty fifteen quid (what?!), with the cost of purchases lobbed on to the user’s monthly Vodafone bill. Thanks to nippy 3G/HSDPA technology a three-hour audio book can be downloaded in three minutes, and with shiny new smartphones like the iPhone and Android serving up bigger screens, reading a book on a phone becomes less of a chore.
Sony has announced their second generation e-reader, the PRS-700, which looks to grab a piece of the action stirred up by Amazon’s innovative Kindle e-reader, which is also rumoured to be updated shortly.
