  • Apple iPhone OS 2.0 and SDK Frenzy

Apple iPhone OS 2.0 and SDK FrenzyThe hype around Apple — this time it’s the iPhone — continues unabated.

Yesterday, the world’s technology press fell at the knees of the altar of The Steve, as he gave … get ready for it … a _preview_ of version 2.0 of the iPhone OS. Yes … that’s right, not a release, but a preview. Shocking the level of hysteria they can generate isn’t it?

Do you think they might have copy and paste from emails built into this edition?

Oh great. There’s yet another social networking service arriving on an already crowded landscape, and this time it’s Facebook ripping off MySpace by offering their own full-on dedicated music service.

The feature set appears to be a note for note copy of the basic MySpace services, so bands or musicians can create their own homepages, add songs and videos, post up information about gigs, blog updates and news, yadda yadda yadda.

  • Fring Adds Mobile File Transfer To VoIP/IM

Fring, a provider of VoIP on mobiles, has added new functionality in their latest release.

Beyond the VoIP and IM functions already included, they’ve expanded to allow the interchange of files between subscribers – mobile to mobile, PC to mobile, as well as between mobiles and PCs, if it runs an MSN IM or Skype client.

There’s no restriction on the type of files that can be sent, or indeed file size, as long as you’ve got storage to receive it. Suggestions are photos – an obvious use, and a considerable saving of use MMS; as well music files – which we suspect will raise the hackles of the music biz; videos and documents complete the list.

  • Asus Eee: Review

Asus Eee: ReviewWell, spent the day getting the reduced Windows install to go down pat, and it works (largely) like a dream – and it’s certainly faster than some full size lappies I know.

The keyboard though, being so small is a bit of a drawback for those that touch-type. It’s just so small! And the decision to make the right hand shift key the same size as a normal one, and position it to the left of the up cursor key is a killer, I’m constantly shifting up a line instead of shifting for caps.
