Given the media’s initial blind obsession with the iPhone, writing about it as if it were the third-coming, it’s not surprising that, true to form, they’re now getting overheated with a possible bad news story.
It centers on an apparent “Kill Switch,” that _might_ be used to kill applications on the iPhone.
Unbridled bouts of iJoy erupted around Apple HQ yesterday as the company posted a hefty profit of $1.07 billion on revenue of $7.46 billion for its financial quarter ending June 30, 2008.
This whopping great bag o’cash adds up to Apple’s best-ever June quarter for both revenue and earnings, with the company’s total gross margin exceeding industry expectations, with $1.33 billion in cash being added to Apple’s bulging coffers.
With handsets offering bigger screens, video capabilities and faster download speeds the market for mobile pornography is set to soar according to industry insiders – with the iPhone proving the biggest hit amongst the thrill-seeking cognoscenti.
Declared “by far the porn-friendliest phone,” by Devan Cypher of San Francisco-based Sin City Entertainment, Apple’s iPhone has become the number one choice for many porn seekers.
Yesterday, Apple offered a preview of the next major version of its Mac OS X operating system, called “Snow Leopard.”
Expected to regale under the designation ‘Mac OS X 10.6’ when it sees the light of day in around 12 months time, the release is set to focus more on speed and stability than ramping up the new feature count. (more…)
To the surprised gasps of, well no-one, Captain Stevie Jobs set fanboy gussets a-moistening one more time with the announcement of the new 3G iPhone.
Now sporting Thinner edges and a full black plastic back, the upgraded handset runs iPhone 2.0 firmware, with Apple claiming that it will load webpages quicker than the N95 and Treo 750 (quote why they’re boasting about it being faster than the 18 month old Treo is anyone’s guess mind.)

Apple are ‘keeping it real’ again this year, with the second iTunes Music Festival. It’s an opportunity to actually see the people who normally just trickle out of your iPod headphones for speakers.
This year’s event will be at Koko in Camden (nee the Camden Palace), between 1 – 31 July. It’s all opening with N*E*R*D on 1 July. There’s 60 bands playing in total with other artists performing include The Ting Tings, CSS and Chaka Khan.
A Microsoft developer, Intersoft in Indonesia, has developed a Mac Aqua clone … in Microsoft’s Sliverlight.
The product, WebAqua, doesn’t hide its similarity to Apple’s Aqua interface, it even celebrates it with phrases like, “perfect for helping you bringing Mac-OS look and feel to your next-generation Web application.”
Vodafone have just announced that it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten countries around the world.
Those countries are Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey.
When they will be available is currently unclear beyond, “later this year.”
The wording that Vodafone has used is interesting, saying they “will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network,” which leads us to suspect that these might not be exclusive deals in these countries, a departure from the Apple iPhone deals have happened to date.

The price of the UK 8GB iPhone has dropped by £100 to £169.
O2 — the network with the exclusive right to sell it in the UK — and Carphone Warehouse, have announced that this will be until 1 June.
