Video sharing kings YouTube are in the process of whipping up the quality of their video stream, with users increasingly being given the option to view some YouTube videos as high quality streams.
Announced in the company blog, YouTube are keen to make more video content available in high res formats, with users being able to offer their video masterpieces in higher quality streams.
Seeing the ZoneGate by Ubiquisys working at the tail-end of last year, made us realise that we see very little reason that people won’t have one of these at home or at their offices.
Just when the BBC were pleased to tell everyone that they’d fixed the hole in their iPhone iPlayer service that let people download TV programmes without DRM – the very next day, the originator of the hack, Paul Battley, produced an update to get around the BBC’s fix, re-opening the whole.

Software
Palm packs a generous package of software with the Centro including the excellent Documents To Go 10 (for reading, editing, creating and syncing full Office 2007 Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text files), Pocket Tunes for MP3 playback, and all of the usual Palm PIM applications and utilities.

AOL will be buying social Networking site Bebo for $850m cash.
Well done to all of those at Bebo, the social network that (more or less) quietly got on with building its 40 million members while the other social network shouted about what they were up to.
It’s interesting that the deal is all cash, with one interpretation of that being that Bebo and its backers wanted to cashout rather than receive stock that might decrease in value.

We love it when people spend huge amounts of effort building machine, or software packages that end up doing something pretty irrelevant. It’s exciting to see how adventurous the human spirit can be.
Given this, we were delighted to see that ‘angelabuilds‘ (Angela Juan) has build a machine to use an etch-a-sketch as a clock.
Yesterday, we took our first shufti at Palm’s new smartphone. Here we get a feel for the diminutive handset.
Around the phone
Looking around the rest of the phone, there’s the trademark convenient silent mode switch at the top, while the left side contains volume up/down buttons and a customisable function key.
