Yesterday, Apple offered a preview of the next major version of its Mac OS X operating system, called “Snow Leopard.”

To the surprised gasps of, well no-one, Captain Stevie Jobs set fanboy gussets a-moistening one more time with the announcement of the new 3G iPhone.
Now sporting Thinner edges and a full black plastic back, the upgraded handset runs iPhone 2.0 firmware, with Apple claiming that it will load webpages quicker than the N95 and Treo 750 (quote why they’re boasting about it being faster than the 18 month old Treo is anyone’s guess mind.)

With more and more online chatters using wireless instant messaging for both personal and business use, it’s not surprising that dodgy types are queuing up to try and eavesdrop on the conversation.
With more users helping themselves to free unencrypted wireless networks in cafes, libraries etc, it’s easier than ever to grab IM passwords as they whizz through the air, IM security is becoming a growing issue.

Slipping out of the new product dock mere moments ahead of the expected 3G iPhone launch is Samsung’s new Omnia i900 smartphone.
Sharing a similar design as the iPhone (and the LG KE830, Prada and Clie TH55 before it), the Omnia sports a beefy-sized 3.2″ 240 x 400 pixels big screen flanked by call start/end buttons either side and a central optical mouse whotsit. (more…)
It appears that no-one is immune to Internet fads these days, even traditional venerable institutions such as Oxford English Dictionary (OED) are getting involved.
(Amazingly the OED is only 80 years old – it’s one of those things that you would have assume had been around since the invention of the print press in Europe by Gutenberg … or before.)
Paul McGuinness, the manager of U2, has been speaking at a conference, Music Matters conference in Asia, addressing what he thinks is wrong with the music business and who is to blame for its reduced ability to make money.
Broadly — to save you having to read the 12 pages of it — he thinks the ISPs are making loads of money, because people are getting broadband connections to download/share music.

Age of Conan, a fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), by Funcom has within three weeks of its release has reached the major milestone of shipping one million units.
What a blunt knife Microsoft’s DRM is. We don’t know if you’ve noticed before, but some time in the last, Microsoft made change to their Media Player, stopping screen grabs of videos that are playing.
Clearly Microsoft thought this would be something that would appeal to content owners in fear of their work being taken without payment – even if it was only a single frame of it.
More details are emerging online of RIM’s new touchscreen phone, the Blackberry Thunder.
