Digital UK estimates that over one million TV sets will be sold in the UK this Christmas.
Electronic retailers and TV manufacturers will be licking their lips at the prospect.
Xmas is traditionally a time when lots of people buy a new TV – whether it’s because they want to make sure that they get at least one decent chrissy present, or that they have nothing to say to the people who will be coming around, and therefore need a new TV isn’t clear.

We were here in Soho to attend the London launch of the new Treo 500V phone, a 3G/UMTS handset available exclusively to Vodafone customers from 1st October (the phone will become available without contract in Jan next year).
As you may have noticed, our earlier prediction that Palm was about to launch a European version of the 755p turned out to be nothing but wishful thinking, so we’ll have to settle for the Windows version for now.

Online bookseller Amazon is about to unveil a wireless electronic book reader, according to The Independent.
Described as “a kind of literary iPod,” the paper reports that UK publishers are already scrambling to digitise their entire range of titles in time for the product’s launch, rumoured to be as close as a month away.
The book reader follows hot on the heels of the Sony eBook Reader, which impressed us after a brief hands-on trial a while ago. Sony’s device is around the size of a hardback book, is easy to read in daylight and can store up to 80 digital books with a battery life of around 7,500 pages.

Vodafone UK have announced details of their new handset lineup, which includes an exclusive agreement to offer the F700 smart phone from Samsung.
Touted as an ‘iPhone rival,’ the touchscreen- packing Samsung offers audio and video playback, 3G and HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) support – potentially providing speeds as high as 7.2Mbit/sec – and a ‘proper’ hardware pull-down QWERTY keyboard.

The cheeky little puppy of a PC weighs just one pound, and comes with a 5″ sliding WVGA LCD screen, integrated thumb keyboard and track stick.

First founder Jeff Hawkins decides to ditch the ‘smartphone companion’ Foleo only a few months after declaring it to his bestest idea evah in the whole world, and now his outfit are saying that the new phone being announced next week isn’t going to be the Centro as widely expected.

Sony have officially announced a new model in the Alpha range, the a700. Headline features are 12.24Mpx, a new “responsive high speed processor,” 5fps continuous shooting, 3-inch 921k dot photo-quality LCD. It’s also got a tie-in across the product range feature of ‘PhotoTV HD,’ HD1080 image display on new BRAVIA televisions, via an on-board HDMI port.
