After years of legal wrangling, Norwegian state prosecutor, ØKOKRIM, have declared they will not appeal against a not guilty ruling for deCSS author Jon Lech Johansen, otherwise know as DVD-Jon.

Sony has reduced the features and supported format of the PSX between its announcement and actual release to the public, the most confusing being its now-lacking Ethernet port. Analysts have reacted strongly against this, but the consumers appear to be lapping it up.

Nokia are getting bashed a lot for the N-Gage, their do-it-all, mobile games machines,. The latest news is that a hackers group claim to have taken the games off it and have had them playing on another Symbian handset, a Siemens SX1. If true, income for them could be damaged.

Finally the Sony PSX details are released. It is an Ethernet-connected games console that can record TV programmes to its large hard drive, store and play both photos & music and record DVD’s. This will give Sony total vertical integration - their media direct to the consumer’s lounge.

Do you hanker after playing old-school video arcade games? In a move similar to the music industry allowing legal MP3 downloads, StarROMs has released an initial 60 classic arcade game ROMs for download, starting at $2.
