We positively overflowed with love for Splash ID when we reviewed the mobile password manager last year, and with both the mobile application and its desktop companion still enjoying daily use in the office, we were keen to give the latest version a once-over.

TAKEphONE 7 Review (Part 2/2)
In part one of the review we looked at the basics, today we go further.
Working with contacts
Clicking on a search result takes you to the contact’s details and here the program really shows its worth: with one click you can call them, fire off a SMS, send an email from your preferred email client, schedule a meeting, edit their details or even see their address displayed on Google Maps.
TAKEphONE 7 Review
TAKEphONE is a slick utility that turbo-charges the Treo’s contacts/phone applications and provides a lighting-quick way to access your address book and then call, email or SMS listed contacts.
Looking up a contact is extremely fast: just type in their initials and all matches will appear onscreen. Start typing in the letters of a first name or second name and matches will dynamically update and become available for clicking as you type.
The F Word: Monetising Filesharing: Reviewed
Last week, MusicTank held a panel discussion “The F Word: Monetising Filesharing”.
For once the panel (detailed below) had more members from the Internet side of things than the music industry, though Playlouder sit somewhere in between.
About a year ago a cross music industry grouping announced a new process called “Value Chain Proposition” whereby rather that sue end-users, they wanted ISPs to pay a license fee as they allowed users to file-share and that “added value” to their service and that added value had a monetary value that the music
industry should have a part of.

Sonos BU130 Review
Sonos like several other companies make music streaming systems. The BU130 consists of a controller and two ZP80 players all packaged into a single large’ish cardboard box. For the review, Sonos also supplied a docking cradle for the controller, which is an optional accessory, but it makes the whole system a lot neater in appearance.

RCA 2007 Show Review: The Great Exhibition
We attended the end of year show for the Royal College of Art (RCA) and were highly impressed with a lot of it.
While I personally thought that the fine art side of the exhibition was too safe and ultimately unexciting – it felt like they were all being too conscious of trying to ‘make it’ – the work in the Great Exhibition tent was very stimulating – bright minds tackling issues that are just ahead of current issues, and a few, a long way off.

HTC Touch Phone Review (Part 3/3 – 62%)
In Part Two we looked inside the Touch and at connectivity and multimedia functions.
TouchFLO
HTC have redesigned the Windows Today screen, with a moody dark finish displaying the time in big LCD-style numbers, and three thumb sized buttons giving quick access to basic weather updates, a program launcher and a link back to the home screen.

HTC Touch Phone Review (Part 2/3)
In Part One we gave you an outline of the phone took a gander at the look and feel.
Opening up the Touch
The phone may be elegant on the outside, but it’s not such a pretty picture when you need to get inside.
Opening the phone was tricky enough, requiring a fair bit of energy to slide the back off to install the battery, but worse was to come when we looked to install the SIM and MicroSD card.

HTC Touch Phone Review
We were recently invited to the launch of the HTC Touch phone – a new slimline WM6 phone sporting ‘TouchFLO’ touchscreen technology – and the assembled herd of head honchos told us that HTC was hoping to steal some of Apple’s thunder ahead of the release of their (over) hyped iPhone.
Now we don’t go in for all this ‘unpacking video’ nonsense, but we feel that HTC’s packaging was especially noteworthy, with the Touch coming in a stylish black box containing a large, full colour manual, which made a very pleasant change from the usual multi-language folded leaflets instructing us to, “Read the PDF file for more.”

Travels With A Palm Treo (Part 2/2)
In Part One, we looked at some of apps which prove on the Treo, in this final part we cover entertainment and working on the move.
To keep me topped up with the latest news, I also fired up QuickNews to speedily download some RSS feeds as our train hurtled through the East Sussex countryside.
Miraculously, apart from a few phone calls and texts, I managed to leave my phone well alone for most of the evening, but after my girlfriend had retired to bed, weary of my Adnams Ale-fuelled waffling, the Treo was on hand to provide some entertainment.
