Punters looking to use their shiny new iPhones on different networks might want to think again after Apple released a statement warning that unlocked phones will “most likely” become “permanently inoperable”
Although iPhones are currently exclusively tied into AT&T’s network in the States (and O2 in the UK), several unofficial hacks swiftly appeared on the web offering to unlock the phones to work on any network.

Camera and video
The onboard 2MP camera produced reasonable enough results although the accompanying thunderous shutter sound effect is likely to startle sleeping babies and send nearby cattle stampeding. We sure it’s in there somewhere, but we couldn’t find a way to turn the ruddy thing off.

In part one we took a look at the Palm Treo 500v’s ergonomics and form factor, and in part two we’ll see how it shapes up as a phone.
Booting up the Treo for the first time took around 30 seconds, with a succession of logos appearing on screen: first the Palm logo, followed by Vodafone’s animated feast of redness and finally the Window Mobile branding.

After months of bedwetting anticipation for Apple fanboys around the UK, His Royal iHighness, Steve Jobs, has shuffled his rollneck personage into London to announce the first European carrier for the 8GB iPhone.
In a deal that one insider described as “madly money-losing,” O2 has secured exclusive UK rights to flog the innovative new phone, with a launch scheduled for November 9th.

Lusty lovelorn loners looking for love are likely to push revenues from mobile dating and chatroom services past the $1bn mark by 2010, according to a new report by Juniper Research.
The research firm estimates that users of such services are set to soar to 260m in 2012, substantially up from the current tally of 40m.
The report points to strong demand in both developed and emerging markets, including more than 60m users in the Indian sub-continent, with the largest mobile dating markets being Japan and India.
