Michael Bay: Microsoft Wants HD-DVD and Blu-Ray To Fail

Michael Bay: Microsoft Wants HD-DVD and Blu-Ray To FailMicrosoft wants both Next Gen HD DVD formats to fail, is the allegation that looks to be made by Michael Bay, the US film director & producer of many well known films such as Transformers; Armageddon; The Rock; Pearl Harbour and Bad Boys.

Someone using the name Michaelbay, writing on the forum on Michael Bay’s web site, Shoot for the edit – which would pretty much point to it actually being Michael Bay – says that

Microsoft wants both formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray. They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth.

Prior to this posting, many people were putting Microsoft’s support for HD DVD over Blu-Ray down to a console format war. Blu-ray is an important part of Sony’s Playstation 3, ensuring that many players are in the lounges/TV rooms around the worlds. Microsoft’s XBOX 360 is the sworn enemy of the PS3.

  1. I wonder when people will give up on wanting a tangible thing they can hold when it comes to their media. Surely people would want the choice of how they store their movies?
