Today we’ve had notice that AlertMe, a UK company that develops and sells alarm systems, has raised £8m in series B funding.
Good Energies, Index Ventures, SET Venture Partners and VantagePoint Venture Partners were the investors.
Smart Energy
Originally AlertMe was a home security system – as you might be able to tell from the name.
It utilises ZigBee to communicate between its sensors and the main unit.
Monitoring of the alarm system is carried out via a broadband connection, or if that fails, a cellular data connection.
It sounds like they’re moving beyond that now to monitor homes for energy use – Smart Energy as it’s being labelled.
We understand that they money has been raised to be focused on to that.
