French handset makers Sagem Mobile have launched their new My511x handset, soon to be available in the UK on Orange pre-pay contracts.
We have to say there’s not a lot to get us excited here, but the slim candybar serves up a shiny black facade with flat, back-lit buttons on the keypad and itty-bitty round buttons for other main functions.
Our hearts also failed to go boom with tech joy up when we scanned through the feature list, which presents a 1.3-megapixel camera, 4x digital zoom, video capture and MP3 and AAC files music player.
At least the thing’s quite small and light at 106.9×46.3 x10.9mm and 81 grams, but that 128 x 160 pixels, 1.9 inches looow resolution screen is going to make surfing the web a trip to the land of No Fun.
The Sagem also includes Bluetooth connectivity, a paltry 32MB of shared internal memory which can at least be expanded via a microSD card. The battery life is quoted as 200 hours standby and a talk time of 3 hours.
It’s certainly cheap at £49.99 from the Argos catalogue (or £69.99 if you want to go wild and buy the bundled 512MB card card version at Woolworths), but we’re not sure it’s cheerful enough for us. But then, we might just be having a grumpy day.
