3 Skypephone Available From 29 OctoberAs we expected the 3 Skypephone has been announced today.

It’s a fully-featured 3G Internet phone with Skype built-in, giving Skype to Skype calls and Skype instant messages over the 3G network – all for no payment for calls. To call up the Skype functions, there’s a Skype button in the middle of the handset.

The handset also has Web access built in and the ability to play music from the 3 MusicStore, giving the ability to play over 500,000 tracks.

Apple Refuses Cash Payments For iPhonesIn an intriguing move, Herr Jobs has now dictated that folks without credit cards will not be allowed to purchase an iPhone, declaring that Apple will “no longer accept cash for iPhone purchases.”

Moreover, Apple will be limiting sales of the hit iPhone to two for each customer in an attempt to preserve stocks for Christmas and stop people reselling their handsets.

FaceBook Touches Microsoft For $240 MillionMicrosoft have bought a teeny tiny piece of Facebook for $240 million, in return for they get 1.6 per cent of Facebook and the privilege of “expanding their advertising partnership.”

At those rates, Facebook is valued at $15 billion, not too shabby for a company founded in 2004, but reflecting their huge growth with around 200,000 new users registering daily.

The deal has been discussed by everyone, so it’s not really a surprise.

During Google’s Analyst Meeting yesterday, there were questions about if Google were planning to invest some money in Facebook. With this deal with Microsoft, it’s probably right to assume that Google will be shut out.

To make their offering different they’re planning to leverage their 14,000 post offices (currently at this level, but reducing each time they close one), to take cash for the broadband service – claiming to be the first UK provider to do this.
