News: Hollywood Targets ReplayTV, Claiming Advanced Technology Undermines its Business - Digital Coast Daily
Comment: Here’s a device I’ve been keeping an eye on since it’s first announcement. I feel it’s siginificant as it’s the first all-in-one device that allows the user to use media from TV and the Internet via a BB connection. Sadly a number of media companies have, once again, tried to bully the product (and if they succeed - all similar future products) out of the market by taking legal action against them. The weakest claim they have made is that it allows the viewer to skip adverts - a number of points here
- you can do that with a VHS current (but you actually see the ads wizzing past)
- Isn’t the viewer allowed to choose not to watch adverts anymore?
